Fallout Weapons Guide
by Mazca

In this guide I will attempt to give my opinion on all the major weapons in Fallout, as well as any specific situations when a weapon is useful. Make sure the weapons you have complement each other - for example, don't have both a Desert Eagle and a .45 Pistol - both do very similar things but use different ammo. As a rough guide, you should usually have 3 weapons:

1 Main Weapon, for use against tough opponents. Some examples:

    • Combat Shotgun
    • (Turbo) Plasma Rifle
    • Laser Rifle

Weapons like the Flame Thrower and Shotgun are not included in this section - they are too specialized. A Main Weapon needs plenty of ammo, a good range, and fairly high damage.

1 Backup Weapon, for use if the Main Weapon runs out of ammo or against weak targets. For example:

    • Assault Rifle
    • Submachine Gun
    • Plasma/Laser Pistol

1 Melee Weapon A weapon used for short-range combat, for een you are fighting weak enemies or are low on ammo.

      (Super) Sledgehammer
    • Combat Knife
    • Ripper
    • Power Fist

You can also carry any other weapons you like - grenades can be useful at times, as can another ranged weapons.
