The Hornet Story
The Hornet government, before they had contact with the Confederation, was a band of some 40 to 50 extremly large cities (each with about 2 million people) on one planet, Varsis, in the Afle system. When ConFed representatives landed, everyone wanted their hands on the "alien" technology. It wasn't long before the Rebellion got in on the act, trying to tell the Hornet government that the Confederation was evil. When a disabled Rebel Destroyer turned up in the Laynyl system, the naturally curious Hornet scientists decided to take a closer look. The scientists transported the ship to their base and began opening the weapons lockers. As they were doing this, a ConFed security strike force bursted in and killed the scientists, thinking that they had been dealing with the Rebellion, which is considered treason.
Obviously, the Hornet president was pissed off. He ordered his warships to open fire on all ConFed ships, to salvage what they could, and told science officers to make preperations to begin colonization. During this time, the first large-scale, mass-production ship yards and weapons factories were built. It was then that the first Strike Fighters and Assassins were made. It was also then that the deadly Stinger was made, which began destroying the ConFed merchants, as the Confederation had underestimated the Hornets.
When Rebel High Command heard of this, they began hammering out an alliance between the two governments. The Rebels would aid in attacks, supply the Hornets with both raw material and Rebel Cruisers, Destroyers, and Mantas, and assist in colonizing surrounding systems. In return, the Rebelion wanted to have access to the Hornet's technology and information about ConFed operations. The Rebels then had an accurate chart of ConFed ship sub-assembly convoys. The Rebels took every convoy on the chart, and began producing their own, retrofitted ships, like the Rebel Frigate and Rebel Patrol Ship. The Confederation, Rebellion, and Hornets all began refitting available ships, like Defenders and Corvettes. Pretty soon, there were 4 different ships for each ship type; the Rebel version, the ConFed version, the Hornet version, and the civillian version. It won't be long until one super-power becomes dominant in the galaxy. The only question is: who? Only you can decide the outcome. It is all in your hands.
(Wasn't that last part sooooo cheesy?)
