Ok, now I'll admit that I'm an Everclear fan. Even though Art keeps writing songs about how much he hates his dad, even though he only knows four distinct cords, even though the other guys never do the lead singing I still like the band.
But then comes this album.
Art started this album as a solo effort and it really shows. None of the songs are about how much his dad sucked and a lot of the songs sound distinctly different from any previous Everclear albums. One of the other band members even does the lead vocals in a song and plays a mandolin. And to top it all off, they even have a cover of "Brown Eyed Girl" by Van Morrison. That essentially takes care of any complaints I've had about the band in the past.
Art and Everclear have managed to craft a very good album, even better than Sparkle And Fade was. I suppose that I like their music because I tend to be able to relate to a good portion of the songs, but that's just me. For anybody else who plans to listen to this album it's just a bunch of good music that's a bit different from what the band has put out before.
