Worlds Apart: A Change of Perspective

The Amazons were in their locker room, lounging around bored.

"This sucks! I canÕt believe we have no matches tonight. YouÕd think that at least one title would need to be defended each week!" Tye whinged. Tye was slouched in the corner of the lounge the Amazons had bought for their locker room. Tye was wearing Ôhot pantsÕ and a halter neck, both silver.

Lore was ÔsittingÕ next to her, only upside down, her knees and feet over the back of the soft leather lounge, staring intently at the monitor showing the 8 man tornado tag match between Taker/Kane/Matt/Jeff and Hulk Hogan/Kevin Nash/Christian/Booker T. Damien, RVD and Edge were in the tearoom, watching the match from there. LoreÕs long red and black hair was loose and was covering the floor beneath her head. She was wearing long black leather pants that flared at the ankles, which hid her knee high black leather boots. She had a long sleeve purple fishnet shirt on, underneath a black short sleeve shirt, with a blue fishnet singlet shirt on over that. She flinched as KaneÕs head hit the canvas after a clothesline.

"Ohhh that had to hurt." Lore whispered to herself. Vixen looked up, she was tidying her locker.

"Huh?" Vixen looked at Lore, her eyebrows close together. "I wasnÕt really listening, whatÕd you say Lore?" Lore looked up at Vixen.

"Oh, nothing, I was just watching the boyÕs match. Dad and uncle Mark just got hammered by a double clothes line from Kevin". VixenÕs eyebrows shot up.

"What did you just call him?" Lore was distracted by the match again, "Uncle Mark?" Vixen shook her head.

"No, you just called Kane, ÔDadÕ. I've never heard you call him anything but Kane." Vixen watched LoreÕs face, which didnÕt change, neither did her eyes move from the monitor. Vixen hung her jacket up, walked over and stood in front of Lore. Lore was staring at the monitor and then all she could see were VixenÕs thigh high beige leather boots.

"Vee, your in the way." Lore whined.

"And you called Kane ÔDadÕ, donÕt try to avoid it now." Lore swung her legs around and sat up properly. She shrugged and all of the blood drained out of her face, making her look somewhat dead. The colour of her face resembled the colour of ElleÕs skin for a moment before the blood rushed back and flushed her face bright red.

"So, thatÕs what he is. Now would you please move, I want to see this!" Vixen let out a frustrated cry and went back to tidying her locker. The lights glittered off Vixens gold singlet shirt and her blood red mini skirt made her look even taller than she was. Elle re-opened the book she had closed to watch how Lore was going to react and Tye shot her an ÔIÕm boredÕ look.

Tye stood up and stretched.

"I know! We can go see a movie marathon." Vixen looked up.

"Yeah, thatÕs a good idea." Vixen looked questioningly at Elle, who was hanging upside down from a bar she had installed in the ceiling specifically for that purpose. She closed her book again.

"Ok, as long as itÕs not a soppy love story or something." Elle stated as she dropped down from the ceiling, her boots making no noise as she landed on the ground. Her green camouflage-print cargo pants swished as she walked over and put her book on the table.

"LoreÉLore, I know you can hear me." Elle stated. Lore ignored her and put her elbows on her knees, her chin in her hands and leaned even closer to the monitor.

"Yeah, yeah, yeahÉwhatever." She ignored Vixen as she walked over to stand next to LoreÕs right knee and when Elle stood just in front of her left knee she leaned a little to her right so she could still see the monitor.

Elle nodded and both she and Vixen grabbed Lore by her arms. They picked Lore up and half carried, half dragged Lore out the door, complaining and yelling.

"What are you doing? No! I want to see this!" Lore was yelling, mostly at Vixen because she knew Elle was not about to let her go unless Vixen gave the say-so. Tye stood up and turned the monitor off. She walked over to the table and wrote a note to the boys saying they were going to the movies and would be home late and not to wait up.

Tye followed the others out the door, grinning at Lore who had by now stopped protesting and was just going along for the ride, her arms folded as best she could across her chest.

Elle and Vixen got to the parking lot and looked at each other. Vixen mouthed the words ÔoneÉtwoÉthreeÕ. On ÔthreeÕ both Vixen and Elle released their grip on Lore and laughed as LoreÕs butt made contact with the hard concrete.

"OUCH! What was that for?" Lore complained whilst rubbing her bottom. "That wasnÕt nice." Tye laughed.

"Ok, so, whoÕs car are we taking?" Vixen looked at the others. No one spoke up. "Alright, weÕll take mine." Vixen pulled the keys out of her pocket and unlocked her brand new black convertible. BLEEP-BLEEP. The unlocking mechanism rang throughout the empty parking lot.

Tye walked behind Lore to go around the car.

"Hey! What was that for?!" Lore looked at Tye and rubbed the back of her neck. Tye gave Lore a puzzled look.

"I didnÕt do anything!" Tye shot backÉ "Oww. Hey what was that?" Tye spun around to confront the empty parking space behind her. She rubbed the back of her neck and turned back to face the others when she couldnÕt find anything. Vixen looked at Tye like she was stupid.

"What?" Vixen rested her arm on the top of the door and looked at Tye.

"It felt like someone pinched the back of my neck." Tye continued to walk around the back of the convertible so she could get in behind Vixen. Vixen looked over the top of the car at Lore and Elle. Lore spoke first.

"I call shot-gun." Lore graciously opened the car door so Elle could climb over the back. Elle shrugged.

"Fine by me." Elle said whilst climbing through to the back seat. She suddenly stopped and turned around to give Lore a really dirty look. Lore looked back at her blankly.

"You pinched me." Elle stated matter-of-factly.

"Did not." Lore threw back.

Vixen rubbed her temples with her right hand. This would last all night if she didnÕt do anything. "Would you just get in the car!" Elle and Lore obeyed. Vixen slid the seat back into place after Tye got in. She sat down and reached out to close the door. Something stung her arm, leaving a large red welt.

"Oww!" She swatted at her arm, closed the door and rubbed the welt. "They must be mosquitos biting us or something." She stopped rubbing the welt long enough to look at it. It was turning a nice shade of deep red, nearly the colour of her mini skirt. She stuck the keys in the ignition and turned to look at the others. She thought it unusual that no one made a remark at her suggestion. She blacked out as she went to turn around and slumped onto locking mechanism on the door.

*     *     *

Lore groaned. She didnÕt want to open here eyes because she couldnÕt remember anything. ÔI must have been drinking a lotÕ she thought to herself. She slowly opened her eyes as her senses rejoined her. She realised she was lying on the ground in a field surrounded by dense woods, the sun high in the sky, the grass thick and dark green. She pushed herself up into a sitting position and looked around.

"Where am I?" Lore crawled over to Elle, who was lying on the ground a short distance away. Tye and Vixen were a little closer to the woods, but still in one piece. Lore made it over to Elle and rolled her over.

"Elle, wake up." She said whilst gently shaking her. A very resounding "NO" emerged from ElleÕs lips and she groaned. Having discovered there was nothing wrong with Elle, Lore smiled slightly and moved over to Vixen to check to see if she was all right. Vixen was lying in the grass, facing the sky.

"Vee. Vee, are you ok?" Lore looked down at her cousin. There was nothing, no reaction at all. Lore turned around to look at Elle. "Elle, I canÕt wake Vee." Elle looked back at her.

"Well donÕt look at me." Elle walked over to the nearest edge of woods. "Hey, thereÕs a stream down here, give me a sec, IÕll bring some water over." Elle appeared 5 seconds later, water in her cupped hands. She threw it over VixenÕs face, who woke with a start. Vixen sat up, wiped the water from her face and shivered, even though she was in the sun.

"That was cold." Vixen looked up into LoreÕs concerned eyes. "IÕm fine." Vixen looked around. She saw Elle standing just behind Lore. "WhereÕs Tye?" Elle looked sheepish.

"I knew I forgot something." Elle walked over to where Tye was lying on her side, as if she was looking towards the woods. Elle bent down, scooped up Tye and slung her over her shoulder. She returned to where Vixen and Lore were conversing softly. Elle returned in time to hear Vixen say, "I donÕt know where we are, I canÕt remember anything." Lore looked at Elle, then back at Vixen.

"Well, if you canÕt remember what happened, I donÕt feel so bad." Lore stood up and looked around. Elle dumped Tye next to where Vixen was sitting on the ground and went over to join Lore, leaving Vixen to wake Tye.

Elle looked at the trees in front of her. She saw something glint and she stepped forward to have a closer look. Lore looked at Elle as she suddenly stepped back and put her hands up in an ÔI wonÕt try anythingÕ position.

"What's got into you?" Lore jumped as the glinting metal made its way out of the bushes. The spear was thrust at Lore and stopped just in front of her throat. LoreÕs eyebrows came together and she frowned. She knocked the tip of the spear away from her throat.

"ThatÕs not nice." Lore stated at the shadow in the bushes holding the spear. The single spear was suddenly joined by many others, most of them pointing in LoreÕs direction. Lore and Elle backed away into the middle of the clearing, enticing the weapon bearers to follow into the open where the danger could be seen and assessed.

Vixen looked up as Lore and Elle backed into the clearing and a dozen women carrying spears pointed at them followed. Tye was still lying on the ground next to Vixen and Vixen turned around when Tye tapped her leg.

"Vee? I think we have a problem." Vixen looked up and saw another wall of women carrying spears pointed at them advancing. Vixen and Tye stood up and started backing towards Lore and Elle, who had stopped in the middle of the clearing. The four girls came back to back. The women continued to advance until they were shoulder to shoulder and the spears were nearly touching the four girls. The women had created a circle around the girls, there was nowhere to go.

Vixen looked around, for the first time noticing the type of clothes the women were wearing. Most of the women were blonde, about 5Õ10 with blazing blue eyes. They each wore a variation of a sort of body armour, and not much else. They had knee high plated boots and each carried a quiver of arrows and a bow slung over one shoulder. Some wore headbands, others wore helms and others wore nothing to protect their heads. One of the women stepped forward. She was dressed similarly to the others, only she wore a gold circlet and armbands on both armsÉand her weapon was lowered.

"Who are you? Why do you trespass?" Vixen looked at this strange woman. She stepped forward herself and replied.

"I am Vixen. Who are you?" Vixen stood up straight and looked down at this strange woman, who showed no sign of intimidation.

"My name is AriÕel. I am the Queen, but you know this. It is clear you are sent by the demons to trick us, tell me. What is your mission on my land, are you trying to kill us off so you can take over? Or are your intensions more sinister? Tell me NOW." AriÕel yelled at Vixen, who did not back down.

Tye stepped up so she was just behind VixenÕs right shoulder. "You donÕt look like a queen." Tye was trying to help but she couldnÕt see she was only making matters worse by aggravating AriÕel.

"Silence!" AriÕel yelled. She stepped forward to slap Tye and Vixen caught her hand in mid strike.

"You dare touch me!" AriÕel spat, infuriated. The women raised their spears a little higher, waiting for the command. AriÕel looked around at her circle of loyal followers and calmed down slightly. She spun on her heels and screeched over her shoulder. The women prodded the Amazons with the sharp points of the spears. The Amazons followed AriÕel into the woods, surrounded by dozens of women carrying spears.

Tye and Lore, ever demonstrating their practicality, were whispering to each other.

"WhatÕd you recon theyÕre gonna do with us?" Tye enquired of Lore.

"Probably kill us. Or make us slaves or prisoners. Or something stupid like that." Lore smiled at Tye over her shoulder.

"How long do you reckon it will take us to get out?" Lore looked at the women surrounding them.

"Not long, maybe a couple of hours at the most." Tye grinned. She looked around and counted the women.

"Less time if we can arm ourselves. I only count thirty-two. There's not that many, thatÕs eight each." Tye couldnÕt see LoreÕs face, but she knew the look, that look said a lot.

"Only eight each? Is that all?" Lore said dryly. Lore subtly slid her left hand behind her back. "Check this out." She whispered over her shoulder.

"HowÕd you get that?" Tye hissed back. What Tye was looking at was an arrow head, with a small amount of the shaft still attached, enough for the arrow to be held onto as a stabbing weapon.

"Take it. Hide it in your shirt." Lore whispered back. Tye took the arrowhead and with the same hand swatted at non-existent bugs near her chest. She slipped the dagger-like weapon down her cleavage and when the women with the spears turned to look at her less than graceful movements Tye screamed

"I hate bugs!" The women laughed and turned their attention away, that is, all but one.

Lore looked around, the woods were still thick, but were becoming very damp. She turned around and looked at the woman who was still assessing Tye.

"Hey, yeah you, where are we and where are we going?" Lore threw over her shoulder. The woman laughed.

"YouÕre in Sanctuary, and we are going home." She responded simplyÉ

*     *     *

The women with the spears stopped suddenly. The four girls looked around. The area they were in was dank and prone to rain. Three times it had rained since they entered the woods 2 hours ago. They were in a somewhat more interesting area though, with the trees more spaced, more sun (when it wasnÕt raining) and the plants were more tropical. They were in a rain forest. Vines hung everywhere and the girls jumped when AriÕel dropped out of the treetops and landed in front of them. She laughed and turned to Vixen.

"I know a leader when I see one. Tell me now, are you in a more talkative mood, or do we have to torture you to get the information." At this little speech from AriÕel, the women cheered and some of them started yelling. Vixen looked at AriÕel, who was enjoying the reactions she brought forward from the crowd. Mongrelle whispered something in VixenÕs ear. She nodded slightly and stepped up.

"As you know, I am Vixen," She turned around a little so she could indicate. "This is Mongrelle, Tygra and Lore." Vixen said, in turn indicating to the rest of her little group.

"Ahh, this is good. Now we are getting somewhere." AriÕel said. She turned and motioned to the circle of women and they lowered their spears. AriÕel turned back to Vixen.

"Now, I have demonstrated my trust. You must do the same." Vixen looked around, worried, not sure how AriÕel wanted her to react.

"I want to know how you got here." AriÕel looked directly at Vixen. Vixen looked back at her and not seeing any harm in telling this woman, told her what she knew.

AriÕel stood there, listening as Vixen told her story. Finally AriÕel stepped back and called one of the women.

"Riata, please step forward." The woman AriÕel referred to was the one Lore spoke to earlier, while they were walking. AriÕel and Riata walked a short distance away and started whispering. Vixen turned to Mongrelle.

"Can you hear them?" Mongrelle nodded and motioned for Vixen to be quite. She finally looked up at Vixen.

"They were trying to figure out if we can be trusted." Vixen was about to ask Elle what the decision was when AriÕel and Riata rejoined them. AriÕel tugged on a near vine and a rope ladder was dropped from above. Lore, Mongrelle, Tye and Vixen looked up. What they saw made them gasp. There was an entire city in the treetops. Hundreds of women, dressed similarly to the ones escorting them moved around, going about their business. AriÕel looked at Vixen.

"After you." She smiled and moved aside so Vixen could climb up.

Once safely above the ground, the women moved away, content to go to their hut-like homes and rest. AriÕel joined them and motioned for the four women to follow her into a large open area. AriÕel sat down on a large throne and indicated for the others to sit around her.

Lore looked around, at the women who were gathering around to hear what was about to be said, at the ground that was over 100 feet below them and at AriÕel. She looked at Vixen, Mongrelle and Tygra and for the first time realised how much they had changed. Vixen was still tall, but her red hair had faded to a strawberry blonde colour. She looked at Tye and noticed her hair had changed colour also. Instead of being a dark brown, it was now blonde. Lore looked at Elle. Her blonde and blue hair had not changed, but had become a little ruffled and tangled in the wind. Tye noticed Lore looking at them differently and ran a hand through her hair. A loose hair came out and caught around her fingers. Tye looked at the hair and it took a while for it to sink in.

Tye screamed. Vixen looked at her, worried.

"IÕm blonde! No! This cant be! I canÕt be blonde!!" Tye was panicking. Mongrelle stepped forward and slapped her.

"IÕm blonde. What's your problem." This was not a question and Tye calmed down slightly when she saw VixenÕs hair had gone blonde as well. Lore smiled and muttered something under her breath.

"Hey! Its not like you can talk, your hair has gone black." Tye said smugly. LoreÕs eyes widened and she looked horrified when she realised Tye wasnÕt lying.

"My beautiful red hairÉ" Lore murmured. AriÕel giggled and when she saw the look on the girlÕs faces she laughed harder. She turned to Vixen.

"And I suppose your hair is supposed to be red." AriÕel managed to gasp between breaths.

"Why? What colour is it?" Vixen looked very worried. At this AriÕel laughed even harder and couldnÕt reply. Mongrelle turned to Vixen and told her the bad news. Vixen sat down on the chair provided, hard. Elle sat next to her and comforted her. Tye, finally managing to calm down about the blonde thing, sat down silently on the other side of Vixen.

Lore stepped backwards and bumped into a wooden rail that was used to block access to a stand. Lore turned around and looked at the three staffs. They were standing up straight next to each other, leaning against the tree behind them. The one on the left was a yellow colour, but not from moss or mould or anything. It almost radiated a yellow glow. The staff on the right hand side glowed a brilliant blue but the one that caught LoreÕs attention was the one in the middle. The one that glowed red, the one that was the nearly the colour LoreÕs hair used to be. She jumped over the rail and grabbed the red staff. She turned around wielding the staff, looking at how brilliantly it shone when in her hands. She jumped back over the barricade and turned to the nearest tree. She was about to strike the tree and test the weapon when she realised AriÕel and everyone else was looking at her. AriÕel was looking at her like she was frog and everyone else were flies. The look was horrified and disgusted and it was directed at her. Lore twirled the staff around her right arm and looked at her friends. Vixen, Mongrelle and Tygra were impressed, but every other person was horrified.

Lore took a step towards AriÕel, who shrunk back into her chair.

"No! Stay away. Get away from us!" AriÕel looked like she was going to snap. She had gone very pale.

"Witch! Leave this place!" Lore looked at AriÕel, confused.

"What? What have I done?" Lore was getting more confused by the second. "Be gone! Riata. RIATA! Remove this witch from our land. Take Erena, Mya and Selena. Get her away!" AriÕel looked like she had gone crazy, like she had just seen a ghost.

The four women advanced on Lore and she, not really knowing what to do, ran to the edge of the treetop city. She looked at her friends, at AriÕel and at the women who were running after her. She took a deep breath and jumped through the ropes that were designed to prevent just that.

"LORE!" Vixen, Mongrelle and Tye yelled at the same time as their friend slid through the ropes. They ran to where Lore had jumped, along with AriÕel and some of the other women. They got there in time to see a thick vine stop swinging and to see the bushes rustle as Lore darted into the forest and out of sight. AriÕel turned to the women she had called to ÔremoveÕ Lore.

"Follow her and make sure she does not get hurt, or more importantly, does not come back." AriÕel winked at the women and Vixen turned around to look at her. Vixen missed the hidden meaning and she had tears in her eyes.

"AriÕel, weÕve got to go after her. She could be hurt, we canÕt leave her. Please, how do we get down?" Vixen was pleading with AriÕel. AriÕel put her arm around VixenÕs shoulders and led her over to the throne where she sat down. Tye and Mongrelle followed Vixen. They sat down next to their friend and tried to comfort her.

Lore jumped through the ropes and just as she was out of sight of everyone she grabbed the nearest vine with her right hand, the War Staff still in her left hand. The vine helped to slow her descent enough that when she hit the ground she left shoe prints, but that was all. The instant she hit the ground she was off and running for the nearest shrubs, trying to get away from those who may wish to harm her. The Amazonian type women who were following her may have been fit, but they had nothing on Lore. She spent 1/4 of her life in the gym or working out. Lore had a 30 second head start and she was going to make the most of it. The trees were a blur and she could no longer hear the commotion she caused from her jump. The women behind her had the advantage, they knew this forest, but Lore had the speed and stamina and she was quickly creating a large gap between her and her pursuers.

Lore ran for as long as she could, until she couldnÕt run any further. She collapsed on a beach and lay in the damp sand until she could get her breath back. She figured she was fairly safe on the beach because the women would think she was trying to hide, not stay in the open so they would be looking for her under every shrub, in every hollow tree etc. Lore looked at her watch. It had frozen at the time she had got in the car. ÔDamn,Õ Lore thought to herself. She looked around, at the lengthening shadows and at the sun which was now becoming low on the horizon. Not that she could see the sun, there were too many trees in the way, but the sky had gone a brilliant array of reds and oranges.

Lore stood up and stretched so she didnÕt get cramps. She looked around. "I had better build a fire." She said to no one in particular. She walked over to the trees and gathered some firewood then walked back onto the beach and dumped the wood in the grass near the sand. She did this five times before she sat down and looked at the wood.

"It will not light itself. You must do that." Lore jumped up and grabbed her War Staff. She spun around knocking the mans feet out from underneath him and he fell ingloriously on his ass, Lore ending up in a fighting position, the staff parallel to her arm behind her elbow. Lore brought the staff around and held it just above the intruders armour, below his neck.

"Who are you? How did you sneak up behind me?" Lore demanded of the strange man, now in an undignified position thanks to LoreÕs fast reactions. He smiled slightly and slowly reached up to take his full helm off. Lore thrust the end of the staff closer to his throat.

"Do not move. Tell me who you are." Lore pressed the staff to his throat to emphasise her point. The man was wearing strange clothing. He wore shiny silver greaves which nearly reached his knees. The full plate armour complimented this. It was extraordinary and had intricate designs all over it with a large elaborate cross in the centre of his chest and from what she could tell his skin was a beautiful rich brown colour. Lore was amazed. She wasnÕt sure what to think of this well-groomed, medieval idiot walking around at dusk. Also, to top off the medieval look, he had an unsheathed sword at his waist. The moon had just risen and the sword glowed a soft blue in the moonlight. There was also a shield that had fallen face down onto the sand next to the man when Lore had dropped him.

"My name is Korath. I am a fully trained Paladin of Zakarum. I will not harm you." The strange man said.

"Your damn right you wont harm me. In case youÕve forgotten, youÕre the one on the ground on your ass." Lore laughed.

"Well, I suppose that is one way of looking at things. It is rather humiliating though." The Paladin smiled. Lore lowered her staff and stuck out her hand to help him up. He graciously accepted her hand and she pulled him to his feet. He reached up, pulled his helm off and placed it in his shield. He looked at her as she sat down in the sand next to him, she no longer had the strength to be on guard and she placed the staff, which was glowing red, next to her in the soft yellow sand.

"I donÕt suppose you could light that could you? I dropped my lighter when I jumped off the Amazonian city thing." Lore did not look at Korath, she just stared out over the water. The moon was full and the moonlight danced off the water, creating light and dark shapes on the surrounding scenery.

"You jumped off that?" Korath looked at her in disbelief. Then with confusion, "What's a ÔlighterÕ?" Korath knelt down next to the wood and produced some flints from in his belt. He went to work lighting the kindling and soon had a roaring fire going. He sat down next to Lore.

"I donÕt think I caught your name?" He enquired.

"Oh yeah. I knew I forgot something. My names Loren Patricia Jacobs. Everyone calls me Lore." She looked at Korath.

"Law? As in rules or canon?" Korath looked disdainful.

"No, Lore as in myths and legends, fiction and stuff. And donÕt look at me like that. Its not like you can talk with a name like Korath." Korath half nodded.

"What does that stand for anyway? It has to mean something right?" Lore continued.

"In my language, the word Korath means Ôbringer of justiceÕ." Lore nodded, satisfied. She lay down in the sand.

"Listen, IÕm really tired. I have been running all afternoon and I'm really not sure why. I will talk to you in the morning. You will still be here, right?" Lore was already drifting off to sleep.

"I will. Sleep well, aspire to dream." Lore nodded slightly.

"You too. Night." Lore was asleep and Korath was left to attend the fire.

*     *     *

"We will camp here for the night." Riata turned to the others. "I will take the first watch. Mya, you will take the second watch, followed by Erena and Selena. Any objections?" No one spoke up. "Good. Now, get some sleep. We have to catch up with Lore tomorrow morning and dispose of the body so her friends can not find it." Mya looked up at Riata.

"Why must we kill her? She seems nice enough and she is no longer a threat." Riata slapped Mya hard across her face.

"Do not talk like that. She has seen our home and she is a witch. She could bring others of her kind and burn our city and all it contains." Mya rubbed her cheek and nodded submissively. Selena piped up.

"Anyway, she holds the War Staff of Oblivion. No one is supposed to be able to touch the staffs without being vaporised, not even the strongest sorceress, Liana, could stand the touch of the staff without meeting her end." Erena nodded agreement.

"ThatÕs true. Lore must be banished. We cannot allow her to live and wield power like that."

"Then itÕs agreed. Lore will meet her end tomorrow morning, or we will die trying." Riata again. The amazons all nodded their agreement and Mya, Erena and Selena went to sleep without a further word.

*     *     *

Mongrelle moved closer to AriÕel so they could talk without Vixen and Tygra hearing.

"Why did you look so horrified when Lore held that staff. What is its significance?" Mongrelle softly demanded of the queen of the Amazons. AriÕel looked deep into MongrelleÕs red eyes. She could not resist their hypnotic powers.

"The three staffs were left here by the sorceresses who ruled over the elements. The blue staff is the Staff of Frostbite, it is the staff of Aphelia, the sorceress who first mastered the elements Cold and Ice. The yellow staff is the Staff of Electrocution. It is the staff of the sorceress Liza, the first sorceress to master the lightening element.

"The third staff, the War Staff of Oblivion, belonged to Aurora, the first sorceress to master elemental fire. It is the strongest staff by far. It is also the most difficult to control. The last sorceress who held it was strong, but it killed her in her attempt to bind the staff to the tree and free the magic from it. It really is a miracle your friend survived. It appears the staff has chosen her or has lost its magic over the millennia."

AriÕel finished her little tale and Mongrelle nodded. She returned to Vixen and Tye. Tye looked at AriÕel.

"What are we going to do tomorrow?" Tye looked tired. It was getting late and there was not a lot of moonlight getting through the canopy.

"Tomorrow you will receive weapons training, but now Korie will show you to the rooms you will stay in whilst you remain in Sanctuary." Vixen looked up, tears stained her cheeks from worry about her friend.

"What do we need weapons for?" Vixen looked worried.

"There are many dangers in Sanctuary, most of them are demons and the like. If you are to find your friend, you will need training and weapons." AriÕel nodded as Korie gently helped Vixen up and led her to a hut that the three would call ÔhomeÕ for quite a whileÉ
