Pirate Government

The Pirates aren't really organized enough to be considered a "government", but I thought they should be added anyway. The pirates are just what you think: bad people who make a living off of taking from other people. If you like that approach, by all means, start taking out traders whenever you can, but don't be surprised when you're all of a sudden at the wrong end of a heavy rocket.

Pros:

You can make TONS of money.

Cons:

Pretty much everyone hates you.

How To Be a Pirate

Being a pirate is one of the most entertaining ways to make a living in EV, but is also one of the hardest. Because you are always running from the law, you will have to find a couple of planets with good upgrades for your ship that will let you dock. Here are some hints to being a pirate:

  • Find a good ship.
A large escort or capital ship will do perfectly, as it has plenty of artillery and enough space to upgrade your ship.

  • Decide what type pirate you would like to be.
Do you want to be a small time crook, a petty thief, or go for the whole enchilada and capture every vessel in site?

  • Keep track of your legal status.
It's generally a good idea to have the highest moral rating possible. Take out other pirates, run emergency and rush deliveries, and help defend the planet you would like to improve your rating on.

  • Know what your goal is.
What is it you plan to do "after your boat comes in"?

Below is a table of all the ships in EV and if they are good for trading:
