Rebel Government

The Confederation was first formed to combat the Alien threat. Once it managed to beat back this threat, it turned its sights toward the future, and continued human expansion in space.

However, it soon became common practice to exploit the outter worlds, called the Fringe Worlds, for the inner worlds, called the Core Worlds, which included Earth. Resistence to the Confederate presence in what were perfectly peaceful systems soon escilated to violence as colonists fought for their freedom.

Now, there is a civil war going on: The ruthless Confederacy is seeking to crush the freedom-seeking Rebellion.

Pros:

The Rebels have an interesting blend of ships. They have a rather weak fighter, but very strong mid- and high-range ships. Their ships are built for speed, rather than strength, so in a dogfight they would win.

By the time you finish the mission string for the Rebels, you get two new weapons: the Cloaking Device and the Tractor Beam. The Tractor Beam is very helpful for taking out the Alien Cruiser.

Rebel ships are considerably cheaper than their Confederate counterparts.

Cons:

The Rebel worlds are not as rich as the Confeds. There is only one good place to buy supplies, as opposed to the plethora of Confederate planets to choose from.

Piracy is much more likely in Rebel systems, as they can't protect against it the way that the Confeds can.

How To Be a Rebel

Being a Rebel can be one of the most frustrating jobs as an EV pilot, because suddenly not everyone likes you anymore. It is also ultimately what you will probably end up as, because you'll find the firepower you can receive will overshadow the other cons.

  • Decide whose ally you want to be.
The worst thing to do at this point is to attack both the Rebels and the Confeds and end up being a Public Enemy everywhere!

  • Build up your reputation.
To get access to Government ships, you need to complete certain missions, and most of these missions require that you have a decent Combat Rating.

  • Do nice things for the Government.
Killing Pirates, Rush Deliveries, Emergency Medical Supplies and the like.

Make sure you have plenty of money. You'll need it for the better ships of the Governments. (of course by this point, you should be loaded)

Usually the Government you are working for will tell you what you have to do, so I am just listing the ships here:

Manta

Rebel F-37B Manta

Destroyer

CDX Starworks Rebel Destroyer

R. Cruiser

Rebel Cruiser
