Auroran Empire

The Aurorans have culture of honour, and don't believe in capturing offenders unless it is unavoidable. The Empire is ruled by five principal families, each of which contributes three members towards the Auroran Council. These families are the Moash, the Dani, the Vella, the Tekel, and the Heraan. At the moment, the Moash are the First Family, and take precedence over the others, having more representative on the Auroran Council, and controlling the Emperor, who is the only council member with veto power. The Aurorans are a warrior culture, so death matters little to them, and dishonourable activities such as smuggling and piracy are considered to be much worse.

Their system of government is feudal, and all five houses vie for power and prestige. The Auroran Empire was originally one of the southern outlying districts of the Colonial Council, a predecessor of the Federation, and they derived their name many years later from the man who brought about their independence after the Vell-os War.

The dominant class of the Empire is that of the elite Warriors. The position of Warrior is based entirely on skill, and is not hereditary. The Empire is the most populous government in Nova.

It is important to note that despite the many comparisons that can be made, the Aurorans are not - and are not very similar to - Klingons, or other standard science-fiction races. The Auroran storyline begins with a cargo mission in Federation space for the Heraan House.

Strengths:

The Auroran Empire controls the largest amounts of territory and population of the three principal governments.

Auroran railguns have the longest range of any of the weapons in EV Nova, and do not require ammunition.

The Auroran Empire has a large number of powerful ships, including the huge Aurora Carriers.

Auroran pilots are willing to sacrifice their lives in defence of the Empire if necessary.

Weaknesses:

Except for Family Heraan, the Houses of the Auroran Empire are uninterested in scientific progress, and as a result, Auroran technology is primitive compared to that of the other governments.

The Auroran Empire is weakened by the ongoing internal war between the Five Families, and is faced with piracy from the Houseless Warriors of the galactic south.

Auroran ships are, except in long-range standoff combat, slightly less effective than their Federation counterparts, and are no match for Polaran technology.
