Auroran Missions
While it is possible to enter the Auroran storyline through one of the minor mission strings, it is by far more common to enter it directly.
Warning: Escape Velocity Nova has a very rich, very in-depth environment. The story-telling is wonderful, and you may prefer to discover each chapter on your own. If you do, don't read any further, as it may 'ruin' the game for you.
1. Honorable Parcel Service
The Auroran storyline begins on any planet or station not owned by House Heraan. It requires that your combat rating be at least 50 (half way between No/Little Ability and Fair Ability), and once this requirement is met the mission is available 60% of the time. Your task is to carry ten tons of cargo to the Heraan station Dominance, but you may have to face a Moashi blockade, so this mission should not be attempted until you and your ship are ready to engage in combat. A word of warning: if you refuse or abort this mission, you may find it hard to pick up the Auroran storyline again.
After completing the first mission, you are sent to Codehaven to pick up another shipment, and then to deliver some plans to your initial contact, Bazara, on Skye. Throughout this missions, you should be prepared to face the Moashi. Once you have completed these missions and your combat rating has risen slightly above Fair Ability, Bazara will ask you to take him back to Dominance, and then suggest that you travel to the Heraan homeworld to become initiated as a Heraan warrior.
2. Becoming a Warrior
To become a warrior of House Heraan, you are sent to the Laok system to defeat your competitors for the position. They will only try to disable your ship; you must destroy them. Once you have succeeded, return to Heraan. From there you are sent to the Auroran religious site of Gungungun to be initiated as a warrior. You should then return again to Heraan, where you will be sent to receive training from an old Auroran warrior named Karlaekaar on Arabus. This training will take several months of game time (although it passes in the course of two dialog boxes in real time), so don't take on any rush deliveries.
3. Preserving Heraan Security
Your next mission begins once again on Heraan, where you are send to find your old contact, Bazara, who has disappeared while on assignment. He is in the north-east region of Federation space, and you will have to face several Federation warships when you find him. When you and Bazara return to Heraan, you will be sent to find out how he was compromised.
